RAF Marham Bolts rounded off a successful campaign with a comfortable 97 - 58 victory over Great Yarmouth in Norfolk League Division Two on Wednesday evening.
Both sides have enjoyed better results this season than last. In Marham's case last season was hugely disrupted by the demands placed on the base whilst Yarmouth were in their first season. Both have enjoyed greater stability, an improved player pool and better results this time around.
On Wednesday the result appeared inevitable from early on as the Bolts sped to a 22 - 3 lead inside the first eight minutes. Despite Oli Rix and Neil Lister combining for all Yarmouth's points in a 10 - 2 response the hosts still enjoyed a 24 - 13 first quarter lead.
The Bolts got back on track early in the second frame scoring the first six points, capped by a Jack Ford triple. From then on the remainder of the half saw points evenly distributed with the Bolts up 43 - 26 at the interval.
Jack Thompson opened the third period with a triple for the Bolts. He quickly added another score before Will Pointon got them to the 50 point mark with Yarmouth still stuck on 26.
Rix and Lister sparked a further 12 - 2 run for Yarmouth. That reduced the deficit to fourteen at 52 - 38 but the Bolts closed the third on a 17 - 2 run of their own to head into the fourth with a game-winning 69 - 40 advantage.
Ford led all scorers with 26 for the Bolts. Pointon weighed in with 22, Daniel Bryantadded 18, Tom Gibbs, 17 and Thompson, 12.
Rix paced the Yarmouth effort with 20, Lister adding 16.
